Bre Thorup, Kindermusik and Piano Instructor

Classically trained from a young age, Bre attributes her piano-playing and love of music to her late grandfather.

Bre’s musical story echoes those of a lot of beginners- she took lessons for a few years as a kid, hating every moment until she was allowed to quit. It wasn’t until her teenage years that she returned to music with a fire that could not be put out.

Bre became the full time pianist for her church and started performing locally and regionally across the Carolinas and Utah for a variety of events and contests.

Bre expanded her music as she played multiple instruments throughout college and beyond, whenever given the opportunity. Her favorite? Marching the sousaphone for the University of Utah.

While she’s tried to take her career in other directions post-college, music kept pulling her back. I think it’s now safe to say that she’s found her home at Free Spirit.

While Bre has taught dozens of students of all ages over the years, there is a special place in her heart for children.

In her words, “The kids keep me going- their energy, their love for life, watching them grow and grasp musical concepts for the first time… it blows me away every time! It is my aim as a teacher to encourage each individual’s own voice, to allow them to explore their own creativity, and be as vibrant as they can be. I believe this is important not only in music but also in life.”

Outside of teaching and gracing our halls (LOL), Bre can be found with her sidekick- five-year-old daughter Chloe, their wiener dog Schnitzel, and duck Sprinkles.
